The Fourth of July prayer and meditation for world peace and healing was held in an abandoned
meadow atop a ridge known as Eagles Roost. After much debate, main council (which works by
consensus process and consists of whoever shows up) decided on July 3rd that the original Main
Meadow adjacent to Bear Creek was too small and too fragile for the July 4th celebration.
The silent prayer and meditation for world peace ends at "solar noon" when a parade of children
enters the circle. Then, a festive celebration follows. It is Halloween, New Years and the 4th
of July all wrapped into one. The first Rainbow Gathering was held near Granby, Colorado in July
1972.
