First Dibs: Children, pregnant mothers, and nursing mothers come to the center of the dinner circle to be fed first. Meanwhile, outside the Sitgreaves National Forest, in the wealthiest nation in the history of the planet, 4 million children are hungry, according to the Bread for the World Institute, and another 9.6 million are at risk of hunger.


Town Crier: sisters and brothers gather in Main Circle at sunset to share a common meal and to listen to announcements about what is happening around camp.


People are encouraged to give what they can to the Magic Hat. The funds that go into the Magic Hat are used for bulk food buys and the purchase of other essential supplies that are then distributed to the dozens of kitchens on-site. The Rainbow Family feeds itself for under $1 per person, per day.
